John Pettit & Sons were founded in 1892 by the original John Pettit who ran the business in Bethlehem Street Grimsby until 1930 when his son Harold Roy took over the reins. Harold guided the company through the difficult austere times of WW2 and rationing until the early 1960s when the present John Pettit inherited control. John still remains active in the company with customer liaison and new product development. Johns son-in-law Andy, now the fourth generation, has assumed control of the companys general management. He is committed to ensuring an excellence of presentation is conjoined with constant high product quality for our retail, website and foodservice customers.

By maintaining the policies of the first John Pettit of 1892, our emphasis still remains on quality, service and reliability, allied with a determination to keep up with demands of today's customer. That policy through four generations has been never to sacrifice quality for price. We believe we get the balance right in supplying finest quality products at a fair price that the customer is willing to pay.

John Pettit's is well known and respected both locally and nationally for supplying customers with the finest Scotch Aberdeen Angus Beef, Fresh Free Range Poultry and Game from Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, and Farm Assured Lincolnshire Pork. Our Free Range Lambs are primarily sourced from the Lincolnshire Wolds, although we periodically purchase Welsh Lamb, the latter re-establishing a link started by the first John Pettit at the turn of the century. This commitment to ensuring that we only purchase from responsible farm assured sources reflects in the quality of the products we present.

We know that our customers appreciate the care and attention to detail around this highly publicised matter, meaning that by purchasing from us they are playing their part as customers in ensuring that our British meat products are produced in a responsible and sustainable manner that is morally correct. Pettit's have a worldwide reputation for Lincolnshire Pork Sausages made to an original family recipe dating back to 1810.

In recent years our sausage division has expanded dramatically. Our development kitchens are constantly introducing innovative products, recent additions include 'Pork, Black Pudding and Portobello Mushroom', 'Pork, Basil and Orange' and most recently ' Roquefort Cheese and Purple Fig Forcemeat'... a marriage made in heaven! We are constantly striving to develop new exciting products which offer a great choice to the customer and enrich our range to our food service sector.

Many of these new products are also industry award winners. BPEX (Pork industry regulatory body) Pork Product of the Year Competition 2008. JOHN PETTIT CROWNED OVERALL WINNER OF THE 2008 NATIONAL PORK PRODUCT OF THE YEAR - Our category winning Tamarind, Maple & Madeira Stuffed Pork Loin fresh pork dish proved such a hit with the judges that it also went on to be crowned Overall Winner in the competition. In addition, their Lincolnshire Pork, Cider & Apple Pie was voted as the Best Pork & Pastry product. Pettits won five gold and two silver medals at the same event. AGAIN in 2009 BPEX awarded John Pettit Butchers OVERALL WINNER OF THE 2008 NATIONAL PORK PRODUCT OF THE YEAR with the newly developed Lincolnshire Yellow Belly Pie. In total we won 13 Gold Medals and 4 Silver for products which include our 'BLOODY MARY' SAUSAGES and Sirloin Pork Chops. Our products are sold throughout the British Isles to numerous Blue Chip clients - so as you can see Pettit's are more than just a Family Butcher.
