Established in 1978 Barkers is a multi disciplined Building Services provider, offering a full service from concept design through to handover of completed installations. We operate across all sectors of the market with particular expertise in Industrial, Commercial, Retail and Domestic sectors.

As a family owned company we pride ourselves on core values, which include quality and customer focus, and this is reflected in the relationships we enjoy with our current client base. In addition we operate internally as a well co-ordinated flexible team. This ensures that we can respond to the changing needs of our clients at all times.

Experience has taught us that we operate most effectively when we are able to get close to our clients, and consequently this is one of the key aims for all our staff. In achieving this goal with current clients we enjoy a robust relationship which allows us to remain focussed on the key milestones for projects, rather than spending time covering ourselves through contractual correspondence.

Our co-ordinated approach to the mechanical and electrical aspects of a project removes many of the usual barriers that can be found with split discipline operations. We will however consider single discipline if this is of particular interest to our clients.

The retail and domestic work we undertake demands a certain non-traditional approach at all levels in our operation. The tight timescales, unsociable working hours, and the responsiveness to changing demands of our clients require a different mindset in order to meet their aspirations.

We are fortunate to have core project management teams that understand this way of operating.

Conversely, the traditional design & build or pre-designed projects require a more conventional approach. Our strategy on such projects is however far from standard. Our focus from the outset is to work with our client in order to realise their aspirations as well as our own. This will include the usual effective delivery, high quality and within budget constraints that are imposed on all projects.

Many of our relationships demand that we operate throughout the UK and this is the mentality that is inherent within all staff and operatives employed by our companies.

Annual turnover approx 1million. As part of a defined strategy the company is looking to expand this through new clients to £ 2mil over the next two years. The infrastructure to support this expansion is already in place.

The company holds professional indemnity insurance up to the value of £10 million for each and every claim and an employers liability of £5 million.


Structure and Resources

It can be seen from the appended Organisation Tree that Barkers has a significant depth of resource to enable it to adequately manage its current £1.3m turnover. Indeed the structure currently in place is the result of a planned growth strategy which can now accommodate an increase in turnover to circa £2m.
